We’ve been trying to describe this place for years. We’ve stopped trying. Come see it.
One mile off the ocean, and five hundred feet above the bay, facing due south, with Santa Cruz on your right and Monterey on your left, nothing between you and the Pacific but clear air. The panorama is 180°. It's unobstructed from every main room, every bedroom, the deck, and the hot tub. This isn't a view you catch through a window – it's the organizing fact of the property.
The compound is 5,000 square feet on 2.9 private acres. There's a reference audio system built across two dedicated rooms, a whole-home audio system so sound reaches everywhere, a soaking jacuzzi and steam room with panoramic ocean views, a Caldera Geneva hot tub on the deck, an observatory-grade telescope with a professional astronomer who can be on-site, a botanical garden, an Airstream parked on the grounds. These aren't amenities added for guests – they're here because we love them.
We rent it fourteen nights a year. We're looking for guests who'll treat it the way we do.
Open great room, 10-seat dining with bay windows on three sides, ocean deck with fire table, hot tub, steam room. Two Tempur-Pedic king suites, bunk room, three premium seating zones. Both audio rooms and the observatory are in the main house.
Separate entrance, induction cooktop, convection oven, sectional sofa, TV, workout equipment, foosball table. Completely self-contained – a family with young kids can be on their own schedule without affecting anyone else. Or staff. Or the couple who want quiet.
A 2022 Airstream Globetrotter with walnut-finish interior, parked on 2.9 private acres with the Pacific as its view. For the part of the group that wants something more cinematic. At night, it's the best seat on the property for watching the stars while the astronomer works.
A 2022 Airstream Globetrotter with a walnut interior, twin beds, and a full kitchen – parked on the property grounds. You catch a slice of the bay through the trees. At night the observatory is thirty feet away, and the quiet is total. It becomes the one everyone argues about sleeping in.
Most people have never been in a room where the sound system costs more than their car. We have two of them.
Room One is a dedicated acoustic chamber – purpose-built, treated ceiling and walls, a pair of statement loudspeakers, tube electronics, and a turntable with a cartridge most audio dealers have never seen in person. You sit in the Eames chair and things happen that are hard to describe.
Room Two faces west. Wrap-around windows. The bay fills the background. Leather chairs, vinyl records going back decades, and the same quality of playback. A sound engineer is available to be on-site – to run sessions, guide listening, and answer every question.
The sky at 500 feet in Aptos is different. You notice it the first clear night. Our observatory-grade telescope makes it personal.
A professional astronomer can be arranged for clear evenings – setting up the scope, guiding your guests through what they're seeing, and when conditions allow, capturing long-exposure images of nebulae your guests choose. Those prints are processed and mailed after the stay – astrophotography taken from your temporary home, of targets your guests chose. View examples at nebulagallery.com.
We respond to curator and platform inquiries within 24 hours. A site visit can be arranged on short notice. The property speaks for itself in person.
